How to Measure a Custom Range Hood Kit

How to Install Custom Range Hoods
Installing a range hood begins with assembling the frame. Once assembled, attach the frame to the wall and then continue by attaching the curved front and side panel arches. For ease of mind, use a few screws and metal straps to securely fasten your range hood to the wall. Custom installation instructions will be included to ensure a quick and easy install.
Some of our builders choose to install their range during framing while others prefer to install over drywall when they bring in their trim carpenters to finish. The choice is yours.
How to Drywall a Range Hood Kit
Drywalling a range hood is comprised of measuring the curvature of the front and side panels, cutting the drywall to the curvature and depth, forming, and fastening in place.
- Wetting the back of the drywall will make the drywall easier to bend.
- For tighter radius range hoods, consider using a double layer of either ¼” or ¼” flex drywall.
How to Finish a Custom Range Hood
Drywall, plaster, wood veneer, brick veneer, trim, tile…the list is seemingly endless. Whether you want your range hood to have a simple or an ornate finish, the choice is yours.
Working With Your Vent Liner
When you’ve already bought a vent liner, the depth (D), width (W), and occasionally the face height (FH) need to be taken into consideration to ensure a good fit. Since our measurements are from outside-to-outside, we need to work from the inside out. To do this, complete the following:
– Range Hood Depth = Vent Liner Depth + 2.375
– Range Hood Width = Vent Liner Width + 3.125
The face height can be tricky, as most vent liners slope up. Upon ordering, send us your vent liner drawings and we’ll verify clearance.

Choosing Your Range Hood Style
Choosing a range hood style is mostly personal taste along with the overall design/theme of the home. We currently have 2 styles available: Tuscan or Bell Curve. However, if you don’t like either of these, share your design with us and we can custom build a curved range hood based on your design and specifications.
How Do You Ship My Custom Range Hood?
Depending upon the size of your custom range hood and/or the size of your total order, it will either ship in boxes via UPS Ground or on a pallet via LTL common carrier. If you’d like to know how it will ship before placing your order, simply call us and we’ll let you know.
