GOTHIC ARCHWAYS SPECIFICATIONS
Gothic arches, also known as pointed arches, have a very medieval feel that signify strength, grandeur, and height. While not as popular as they were once were several hundred years ago, they still make a point.

1” to 5 ½”. Any depth over 5½” will be made as a split (a 2¾” arch for both the front and back of the opening). Lastly, a gothic arch depth is limited to 18”. Anything greater than 18" is considered a barrel vault. |
HOW TO MEASURE GOTHIC ARCHES
- Measure the depth of your opening to the nearest 1/8”.
- Measure the rough opening width to the nearest 1/8”.
- Enter the location (place) where the Gothic Arch will be installed in your project (for example: Dining Rm, Study, #1 Gothic Arch).
FINDING YOUR GOTHIC ARCH RISE
Since the gothic arch ends in a point at the center, the rise of a gothic arch is also equal to the total height. Mathematically, the rise of a gothic arch is dependent upon the style which dictates where on the width the overlapping radii start. On an equilateral gothic arch, the overlapping radii start from each end of the width, whereas the lancet radii are drawn from outside the width, and the drop radii are drawn inside the width.
HOW TO INSTALL GOTHIC ARCHWAYS
Every gothic arch kit comes with tailored installation instructions to your specifications. It really is as simple as measuring and marking the center of your header, marking down from the header your total height, and then aligning and fastening each gothic arch half to the stud and header.

How long does it take to get my gothic archways?
Gothic arch kits normally take 5 - 9 business days to manufacture (in most cases sooner). Then add a few days for shipping. Plan for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 weeks from date of order.
How do you ship my gothic arches?
Depending upon the size of your order, most gothic arch kits ship in boxes via UPS Ground. If you order several arch kits or if you also order a ceiling or wall design kit, it could ship on a pallet via UPS Freight. If you’d like to know how it will ship before placing your order, simply call us and we’ll let you know.
How do you drywall a gothic arch?
Drywalling a gotic arch is comprised of measuring the curvature of the arch, cutting the drywall to the curvature and depth, forming and fastening in place. You can also watch our "How to Drywall an Archway" YouTube video.
QUICK TIPS
- Wetting the back of the drywall (as shown in the video) will make the drywall easier to bend.
- For tighter radius gothic arches, consider using a double layer of either ¼” or ¼” flex drywall.
