A half-circle arch derives its name from its shape. This style of arch is reminiscent of Spanish and Tuscan architecture that is often related to bring a warm cozy feel to a home. Be wary, as the rise often limits its use for openings larger than 6ft. In this case, for larger openings you may want to consider mixing this style of arch with an elliptical or dual radius arch.

1” to 5 ½”. Any depth over 5½” will be made as a split (a 2¾” arch for both the front and back of the opening). Lastly, a half-circle arch depth is limited to 18”. Anything greater than 18" is considered a barrel vault. |
To find the rise of a half-circle arch, simply divide the width of the opening by 2. For example, a 74 ½” wide opening would have a 37 ¼” rise (74 ½” / 2 = 37 ¼”).
Every half-circle arch kit comes with tailored installation instructions to your specifications. It really is as simple as measuring and marking the center of your header, marking down from the header your total height, and then aligning and fastening each half-circle arch half to the stud and header.

Something was missing from the design so I had the guys at Archways & Ceilings build me a large curved fireplace canopy to create a cool custom feature for this area.
