Astroid curve ceilings, or ceiling etching, are a modern transitional approach to ceiling design. They can easily be built to fit in a tray ceiling or surface mounted to any flat ceiling. Plus, our astroid curved kits are a breeze to install. We combine CNC plywood alignment guides with our patented preformed arches to provide a one-of-a-kind ceiling. Measuring a ceiling for an astroid curve is pretty straight forward. It simply consists of measuring the width, length, choosing your style, naming it with a location, and determine your height.
Choosing a height for your astroid curve is mostly personal taste along with the overall design/theme of the home. The greater the height, the bolder the statement. The less the height, the more subtle, yet elegant, statement you’ll make. If you plan to install an astroid curve in a tray ceiling, usually the depth of the tray will be your height. However, this doesn’t have to be the case as you could always do less to slightly accent the design. A good rule of thumb is the greater the ceiling height, the greater you should make your height.
Installing an astroid curve ceiling simply consists of fastening the CNC plywood alignment guides into place as specified on your custom plan, and then fastening the preformed arches to the ceiling and the forms as shown in the instructions. Drywalling a astroid curve ceiling is comprised of measuring the curvature, cutting the drywall to the curvature, forming and fastening in place.
