How to Measure a Fireplace Canopy Kit
Measuring your fireplace canopy consists of providing measurements for the depth, width, top ledge depth, face height, and total height. You’ll also need to choose a style. For clarification regarding the above measurements, please use the above pricing calculator and click on the “?” next to each measurement for more information.
How to Install Fireplace Canopy Kits
Installing a fireplace canopy begins with assembling the frame. Once assembled, attach the frame to the wall and then continue by attaching the curved front and side panel arches. For ease of mind, use a few screws and metal straps to securely fasten your fireplace canopy to the wall. Custom installation instructions will be included to ensure a quick and easy install.
Some of our builders choose to install their range during framing while others prefer to install over drywall when they bring in their trim carpenters to finish. The choice is yours.
How to Drywall a Fireplace Canopy Kit
Drywalling a fireplace canopy is comprised of measuring the curvature of the front and side panels, cutting the drywall to the curvature and depth, forming, and fastening in place.
- Wetting the back of the drywall will make the drywall easier to bend.
- For tighter radius fireplace canopies, consider using a double layer of either ¼” or ¼” flex drywall.
How to Finish a Fireplace Canopy
Drywall, plaster, wood veneer, brick veneer, trim, tile…the list is seemingly endless. Whether you want your fireplace canopy to have a simple or an ornate finish, the choice is yours.

Choosing Your Fireplace Canopy Style
Choosing a fireplace canopy style is mostly personal taste along with the overall design/theme of the home. We currently have 2 styles available: Tuscan or Bell Curve. However, if you don’t like either of these, share your design with us and we can custom build a curved fireplace canopy based on your design and specifications.
How Do You Ship My Fireplace Canopy?
Depending upon the size of your order, most soft arch kits ship in boxes via UPS Ground. If you order several arch kits or if you also order a ceiling or wall design kit, it could ship on a pallet via LTL common carrier. If you’d like to know how it will ship before placing your order, simply call us and we’ll let you know.
“We had a project with a large fireplace that sat against a tall wall. Something was missing from the design so I had the guys at Archways & Ceilings build me a large curved fireplace canopy to create a cool custom feature for this area. The kit was made to my spec’s and was easy to assemble. The combination of the straight lines of the fireplace and the bell curve shaped lines of the canopy truly makes this space one of a kind.”
