Cyclorama infinity walls are a must have when you need that certain look in video. The only problem is that they are extremely time consuming to build from scratch. Instead, consider using one of our prefabricated cyclorama wall kits. There is still some installation, but it can be completed in mere hours instead of days – and the job will save you a ton of cash.
How to Measure A Cyclorama Kit
Measuring your cyclorama infinity wall consists of providing measurements for the perimeter, radius, and ceiling height. You’ll also need to provide the number of your inside corners and choose a type. For clarification regarding the above measurements, please use the above pricing calculator and click on the “?” next to each measurement for more information.
How to Install a Cyc Wall Kit
Installing a cyc wall begins with framing your walls. Once completed, you’ll start in the corners. Fasten the corners as specified in your instructions and then start on either side of the corner and space the radius cyc wall pieces no more than 16” O.C. We recommend using either a T-Nailer or a narrow crown stapler when fastening the cyc wall pieces.
How to Drywall a Cyc Wall
Drywalling a Cyc Wall is comprised of measuring the curvature of the radius pieces, cutting the drywall to the curvature and length, forming, and fastening in place.
- Wetting the back of the drywall will make the drywall easier to bend.
- For tighter radius ceiling coves, consider using a double layer of either ¼” or ¼” flex drywall.
How to Finish a Cyc Wall
Drywall, mud and tape, prime and paint. Keep the paint nearby, as maintaining a cyc wall will tax your painting skills.
Cyc Wall Specifications
Please note that we only supply the curved framing components for your cyc wall. The walls and flooring are not included.
While any part of a cyclorama kit can be modified to our customers’ exact specifications, the most common part specifications are as follows:
|Material||Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)(High Grade Moisture Resistant)|
|Thickness||The thickness of the cyc wall pieces can range from ½” to 1” thick depending upon the radius.|
|Depth||The depth of the cove pieces are normally 2 ½” deep up to 12”.|
|Radius||The cyc wall radius can be made as small as 12” and as large as you desire.|
|Spacing||We provide enough cyc wall radius pieces to be spaced 16” O.C.|
Choosing a Cyc Wall Radius
Choosing a radius for your Cyc Wall depends upon your intended use. In our opinion, we wouldn’t recommend going smaller than 18” or larger than 30”. If you want a specific radius that we don’t provide here, call us to discuss and we’ll prepare a quote for you.
“I would highly recommend Archways & Ceilings. Their kits take what can be a hard task for a carpenter and make it into a simple project. The savings over other products we have used like Styrofoam is significant with better durability.“
